Authorities of the Brodekwano Methodist Health Centre in the Bosomtwi District of the Ashanti Region have given the Energy Minister and the District Chief Executive three days to prove that the Centre facility was constructed by the NDC government.
A campaign brochure by issued by the area’s NDC parliamentary candidate Dr. Joe Oteng Agyei and District Chief Executive Edward Nti Berko includes the Methodist Health Facility in a list of NDC achievements.
However, according to the Centre’s Head of Finance and Administration, Samuel Odame, the centre was constructed and funded solely by the Methodist Church and the government provided no support.
He challenged the ruling NDC to produce evidence that the party truly constructed the facility. Failing this, he announced, he will be compelled to take the two state officials to court.
Odame also accused the ruling party of sneaking into the premises of the health facility to photograph it without the knowledge of consent of Centre administrators.
Speaking to Luv News in Kumasi, Nti Berko conceded that his Assembly made an error in claiming the facility as one of its own achievements, clarifying that its only contribution to the Centre was a toilet facility. He admitted that under these circumstances, the Assembly and the NDC could not be credited with the construction of the facility.
The Assembly has acknowledged their error, he reported, and has taken measures to remedy the situation, including a public admission of the truth regarding the facility.
